Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain refers to discomfort or pain experienced in the shoulder joint or the surrounding muscles, tendons, ligaments, or other structures. Shoulder pain can be caused by a variety of factors and conditions, including:

  1. Rotator cuff injuries: The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint. Injuries to the rotator cuff, such as strains, tears, or tendinitis, can cause pain and limited mobility.

  2. Shoulder impingement syndrome: This occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff become pinched or compressed between the bones of the shoulder. It often results from repetitive overhead movements or poor posture.

  3. Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis): This condition involves stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint, limiting its range of motion. It typically develops gradually and can be caused by injury, overuse, or underlying medical conditions.

  4. Shoulder instability: This condition occurs when the shoulder joint is loose and may slip out of place (dislocate) either partially or completely. It can be caused by trauma, repetitive strain, or certain medical conditions.

  5. Arthritis: Various forms of arthritis, such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, can affect the shoulder joint and lead to pain, stiffness, and inflammation.

  6. Fractures or dislocations: Traumatic injuries, such as fractures or dislocations of the shoulder bones, can cause severe pain and require immediate medical attention.
